RAMALLAH: The Israeli occupation forces killed a young Palestinian man north of Jerusalem and arrested five others in the West Bank, according to a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report.
The young Palestinian was shot at Qalandya checkpoint.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said in a brief statement that the occupation forces fired and seriously injured a Palestinian youth for allegedly trying to stab Israeli soldiers.
The Israeli soldiers did not allow first aid to be administered to him.
Palestinian sources present at the scene said the Israeli soldiers closed the roadblock and prevented Palestinian citizens and vehicles from passing; they left the young man to die of his wounds.
In the West Bank, the Israeli occupation forces on Monday arrested five Palestinians.
According to a source from the Palestinian Prisoners Club (Nadi Al-Asir), the arrested Palestinians were — two from Nablus, Jabber Ouwais and Anans Hamdan, two from Jerusalem, Mohammad Mahmoud Dabash and Raid Al-Mugrabi, and one from Qalqilya, Rashid Ali Radwan.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said that failure of the international community to hold Israel accountable for its violations and disregard for international law only encourages the Israeli occupation forces to continue their Judaization scheme, with the aim of dictating the direction of the negotiations on the final status issues, in its favor.
The ministry issued a press release on Tuesday in which it said that Israel’s ruling right-wing party continues its Judaization operations in a systematic manner in large areas of the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem. In addition to stealing Palestinian land to build illegal settlements, Israel continues its Judaization operations throughout occupied Jerusalem, either through increased settlement expansion, seizing property under illegal justification, or through the continued destruction of Palestinians’ houses and denying them residence permits in Jerusalem, said the statement.
Moreover, Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has waged in recent years a cultural war aimed at deepening the occupation and depriving Jerusalem of its Arab identity by replacing Arabic street names, districts, squares and places in Jerusalem with Israeli names, added the statement.
