All set for 4th Annual Almarai Basketball Tournament

The 4th Annual Almarai Basketball Tournament is set to roll next Thursday at the Almarai Head Office Villa basketball court, Exit 7, Al-Ishdihar District here.
With the theme “One Team, One Play, One Goal” the tournament aims to promote the physical and mental well-being of employees and enhance their productivity to the company.
Tournament Commissioner Anthony Esguerra and consultant Emerson Mitra confirmed six teams from different divisions, led by L’uisine, entered this season's tournament. Cheddar, Juicers, Fresh Milk, 7 Days and Alyoum complete the list.
Regular games are to be played Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6 p.m., and will continue for two months.
Expected guests to grace the opening ceremony are the general managers for Marketing and the divisions’ marketing managers.
To highlight Thursday’s event is the parade of participating teams at p.m. followed by the opening day games between 7 Days an Alyoum and L’uisine & Juicers teams.
Almarai Marketing Division is the major sponsor of this tournament.
Last season’s MVP Robinson Real, now playing for the Juicers, will lead the oath of sportsmanship while the league commissioner and one of the general managers for Marketing will both make the ceremonial toss of the ball.
The elimination is a double round robin format. Top four teams will advance to the semifinal round and will play a single round robin. The finals will be a best-of-three series format while the last two teams from the semifinals play a knockout game for third and fourth.
With Commissioner Esguerra in the Executive Committee that will run the tournament are: Arnulfo Santillan Jr., tournament chairman; Alevers Rosario, assistant tournament chairman; Miguel Alarcon, head of Finance; Enrico Abad, event director; Mitra, tournament consultant, and Daniel Desiderio, graphics and design.
General Committee officials include Ace Galleta, Joseph Vilar, Ira John Sumagaysay, Leo Angelo Ferrer, Ernesto Borja and Roland Rojo. The Filipino Confederation of Basketball Referees (FCBR) headed by Ed Khalid Tamayo is in charge of the tournament officiating.
