Finance to meet Travel in Kanoo cricket final

Finance throttled Maersk Lions by 51 runs to enter the final of the Kanoo Inter Division cricket league. Finance will clash with Travel, who routed P&IP by 8 wickets during the 3rd week matches played here.
Although Finance lost their openers early, the middle order batsmen Faheem (40) and Rafiq (14) kept the score board ticking. Then in came the swashbuckler Sami Khan who smashed a quick fire unbeaten 63 runs to post a target of 188 in 15 overs. Maersk bowlers, Asad and teenager Talha picked 2 wickets each.
In response, Maersk openers started very well. Azeem (36) and Asad (17) steadied their innings. They were well supported by Kamran (12), Asad (15) and Waseem (11 n.o.) but they were restricted to 137 for 9 off 15 overs. Nabeel, Jerome and Thabrez shared 2 wickets each for the winners.

In the other match, P&IP batsmen toiled hard to make runs whilst they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Asif (17) was the lone batsman who put up a fight in their total of 71, which came off 12 overs.
Wasfi was the pic of the bowlers as he bagged 3 wickets while Muteeb got 2.
In turn, Travel made short work and achieved their target off 9 overs though they lost 2 quick wickets. Aleem (23) and Muteeb (25 n.o.) steered their team to a comfortable win. P&IP bowlers Vasi and Imran Raju picked a wicket each but unable to contain their opponents.

P&IP plundered Maersk and Freight to bag third position.
P&IP lost their opener early but bounced back thanks to Hakim (34) who played an assertive knock by rotating the strike.
But at the other end, the wickets kept falling (Asif 27) who was supported by Shaheen (13) played sensibly to post a target of 140 for 7 in their allotted 15 overs. Ashfaque’s 4 for 35 and Shamoon 2 for 24 impressed for the bowling side.
In response, P&IP bowler Sujeeb rocked the Maersk boat as he struck 4 vital blows. He was well supported by Imran Raju who picked 2 quick wickets to ensure that their team won by 36 runs.
Maersk Lions’ Kamran (11), Kasim (18) and Ashfaque (17) did their best.

In the match for third place, P&IP got the better of Freight by 36 runs
P&IP openers Razi (23) and Hakim (78) played a swashbuckling innings. They were further anchored by Shaheen (21) to put on board 177 off 15 overs. Imran picked 2 wickets for Freight.
In turn, though Freight lost their opener early, the veteran Oliver (21) and Wahid Khan (59) batted sensibly. Earlier, Sujeeb rocked the Freight boat by picking 3 vital wickets. Thereafter it was P&IP’s who restricted their opponents to 147 runs off 15 overs.
