Seven inmates escape from correctional home

Seven inmates from the Social Observation Home, a juvenile correction facility in Riyadh, escaped on Thursday through a recently renovated window.
Its iron bars were easily removable as a result of the bad quality of renovations throughout the whole building. The youngsters escaped at 9 a.m. from a room they were moved into during renovation works.
The director of the facility has reported the incident to the Al-Malaz police station and has given them the names of the escapees. He also notified the ministry.
The home lacks security control and security guards and its monitoring cameras are out of service.
The home’s director has notified the ministry of the inadequate state of the building to absolve himself from accountability over runaways. The source added that one of the escapees was to complete his sentence within 20 days.
