Charitable services to be recognized with specialized diplomas

Khalid Al-Thubaiti, press spokesman for the Ministry of Social Affairs, said the ministry has begun negotiating with several universities in the Kingdom to launch specialized diplomas in charitable work.
He said the ministry has a futuristic outlook on the work of charities in general and will apply a comprehensive strategy to achieve the objectives of charitable societies and establishments. The strategy will be based on human and material resources.
“The establishment of a charitable organization requires 20 or more applications. In addition, the area should be in need of such services and no other charities should be offering the same services in that area,” said Al-Thubaiti.
Al-Thubaiti said donations distributed by charitable organizations are not limited to Saudi nationals.
Those with regular Iqamas will be served after tending to Saudi nationals registered with the charities. Donations to this segment are usually in kind.
He said that fictitious charities exist but that various supervisory entities regularly monitor charities across different regions of the Kingdom.
