Poultry producers discussed developments and challenges in the poultry sector earlier this week at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC), local media said.
The event, organized by the Agriculture and Food Security Committee of Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), aimed at exchanging ideas and proposals conducive to developing the poultry industry in the Kingdom and removing obstacles facing the sector, said Mohamed bin Fahad Al-Hamadi, an RCCI official.
The meeting covered topics like increased production costs and technical and administrative problems, which may hamper the progress of poultry projects.
The poultry sector plays a major role in food security in the Kingdom and is considered a successful agro sector in terms of investment, Al-Hamadi was quoted as saying.
There are currently 513 poultry projects in the Kingdom, of which 30.6 percent are located in the Riyadh province with investments reaching SR60 billion, he said.
