Saudi film producers and directors are shining at the 29th Alexandria International Film Festival currently taking place in the Egyptian coastal city, a local filmmaker said here recently.
The film festival, entitled "Towards more freedom," started on Wednesday and ends on Monday.
Mamdouh Salem, chief executive officer of Rowad Media for Media Production & Entertainment, said Saudi Arabia shone with the film "Jeddah, crossroads of cultures and civilizations.”
The film, directed by Salem, is about five people from different cultures and backgrounds living in Jeddah. It shows how they come to terms with living in the city and eventually coming to love it and its people.
Salem said the film won the Silver Dagger last year at the Muscat International Film Festival.
Thirty films from Asian, European and Arab countries have been selected for screening. The festival has been held annually since 1979 and is dedicated to showcasing long feature films from Mediterranean countries.
