Barkadahan Disers sweep Kudu for Inter-Company Non-Rated title

Barkadahan Disers showed who was the better team in the end of a roller coaster clash to avoid a Game 3 in the best-of-three title series. Lito Villanueva’s B. Disers squad of Resty Montemayor, Arnel Cunanan, Hutch Valesa, Ramil Ignacio, Jerol Claveria with Joel Tarin and Joms Palejo hammered out an 87-85 victory to capture the 3rd Kudu Challenge Cup for the Inter-Company Non-Rated championship crown before a jampacked crowd at the Sheraton Riyadh Hotel & Towers rubberized court here.
Kudu could only tie the score with 11 deadlocks as the first quarter was 18 all, second quarter 40 all and the third quarter ended 64-61. The fourth quarter was a very tense situation where the scores stood at 85 all in the dying 28 seconds where Kudu’s Brian Coronado, Fundador Aguinaldo, Bernard Fabila, Joren Balicao, Mark Fabelo and Ralph Piodos were trying to kill time to force overtime when Resty Montemayor of Disers picked up a foul and converted both charities for the marginal points.
The awarding ceremony followed immediately. The awardees based on players’ individual statistics were: Nomer Dolindo (Almarai) highest single scorer and highest in 3-points, Archie Zabala (Western Union Enjaz) highest in steal, Brian Coronado (Kudu) highest in blocked shots, Resty Montemayor (Disers) highest in assist and Bernard Fabila (Kudu) highest in rebounds. Zahran was named most sportsmanship team, while for the second time Joel Tarin was awarded the most disciplined player.
Named to the mythical five selection were Best Guards Dolindo (Almarai) and Montemayor (Disers), Best Forwards Angel Fabro (WU Enjaz) and Cunanan (Disers) Best Center Fabila (Kudu). Dolindo (Almarai) was also adjudged the Rookie of the League while Cunanan was the Most Valuable Player. The Best Manager was Ronnie Ferrer and the Best Coach Villanueva.
The individual awardees each received a plaque in addition to home appliances from NIKAI Group of Companies which gave special discounts courtesy of Showroom Manager Ahmed El-Farram. The MVP Cunanan received a 32-inch flat screen LED television set while Dolindo a Digital Microwave with meal voucher for 2 from Sizzler House courtesy of Randy Assistin.
