The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Saudi Arabia and Yemen plans to organize a Saudi business delegation to participate in CeMAT, the world's major logistics fair in Hanover, from May 19 to 23.
“Logistics is definitely a key factor for economic development and successful investment promotion,” said Andreas Hergenroether, head of the body.
Hergenroether said the continuous development of logistics has been one major reason for Germany's economic success. He said Germany ranks fourth in the world's logistics performance index.
Hergenroether added that exhibitors from Saudi Arabia, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and other countries would showcase their products on an exhibition floor area of around 160,000 sqm.
“CeMAT is the international showcase for an industry of true innovative power. As for Saudi Arabia, a clearly defined objective involves the industrial diversification and investment promotion. It is evident that logistics and in particular intralogistics are of crucial importance for local industries,” he said.
Although German companies such as DHL, DB Schenker, Alfred Talke and Kuehne & Nagel have been very successful in the logistics sector, Hergenroether still sees huge potential for the future.
In the past, the organization also organized several Saudi business delegations to Germany. In June this year, the German Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (AHK Saudi Arabia) accompanied a delegation to Transport Logistica in Munich where Saudi companies participated as exhibitors.
In 2012, a Saudi business delegation held a meeting with Jan Muecke, German secretary of state of the ministry of transport. In 2011, Abdul Aziz Mohammed Al-Tuwaijri, president of the Saudi Ports Authority, led a delegation of 30 ports and business representatives to the world's leading trade fair for logistics and mobility in Munich.
The exhibition, whose slogan is ‘Smart, integrated and efficient,’ will be organized by the Deutsche Messe AG, which has been officially represented in the Kingdom by AHK Saudi Arabia.
Deutsche Messe AG has been the world's major platform for industrial innovation for decades covering energy supply, automation, information technology and logistics.
