Maj. Gen. Sulaiman Al-Amr has been appointed director-general of the Civil Defense Department, replacing Lt. Gen. Saad Al-Tuwaijri.
Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Naif made the new appointment.
Gen. Al-Amr said he would work toward further developing the department and its work force to carry out its mission of safeguarding the Kingdom and ensuring the safety of its citizens and residents. “I am honored at being appointed by Prince Muhammad bin Naif to this important post,” he said.
He thanked the Saudi leadership for reposing confidence in him. “This confidence will be a big incentive for me to exert greater efforts in the service of the country and its people,” he added.
Al-Amr also commended Gen. Al-Tuwaijri for the remarkable role he played in developing the department during his 15-year tenure as its director general. “He has done the job well with commitment,” he said. Al-Tuwaijri has been made adviser to the prince’s office.
Al-Amr believed the department’s enormous capabilities would enable it to reach greater heights of efficiency in the coming years with state support.
