‘Stray dogs caused man to kill self’

The menace of stray dogs cost a man his life as he killed himself accidentally with a hunting firearm in Al-Aqiq in Baha on Sunday while attempting to shoot the dogs.
A police official said the man, in his twenties, was found dead next to his car apparently shooting himself while trying to kill stray dogs.
Col. Saad Turad, spokesman for Baha Police, told Arab News that preliminary investigations revealed that a gunshot broke the man’s skull as it came through his jaw in an apparent accident. The man’s name has not been released.
The official said there were no signs of a fight or assault on the man’s body, lending credence to the theory that he had shot himself by mistake while trying to adjust his position and shoot the dogs. “The young man was leaning out of the passenger’s window when the gun must have accidentally discharged and a bullet pierced his skull killing him instantly,” Turad said.
Policemen at Al-Aqiq Police Station in Baha immediately rushed to the scene of the incident after receiving a Civil Defense call at 4:00 a.m.
The weapon, found next to the victim’s car, was not legally registered. “The man apparently did not know how to use the weapon, which is in violation of gun ownership and use regulations,” Turad said, and warned the public against misuse of guns and requested strict adherence to guidelines regulating gun ownership and use to avoid unfortunate incidents.
