Flynas, Saudi Arabia’s national carrier, launches a daily service between Jeddah and Abha starting from April 15.
The announcement was made at the 7th annual Saudi Travel and Tourism Investment Market 2014 in Riyadh. Flynas participated in the event as a gold sponsor where the new destination was launched at its pavilion.
Representing the executive team of flynas at the event was Wael Al-Sarhan, director of marketing and communication besides two senior executives from the Supreme Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) — Hamad Al-Shaikh, VP marketing and activities, and Mohammed Al-Amrah, head of the SCTA in Asir Region. The event included folkloric shows inspired by the region at the flynas pavilion.
Al-Sarhan, director of marketing and communication at flynas, confirmed that launching the new route between Abha and Jeddah supports flynas’ target of increasing capacity across its domestic routes to drive economic growth in key cities across the Kingdom.
Al Sarhan stated that flynas has increased its capacity and expanded the range of services it provides after seeing increased demand over the past few years. The recent re-brand to flynas was a turning point, providing the airline with a new, fresh identity, which supported the upgrade of its fleet to include a comfortable Business Class cabin now available on all flights.
Al-Sarhan discussed the major expansion at flynas, which will start from next week. It includes flights to the UK, Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco and Pakistan. This expansion has been made possible by the addition of 3 Airbus A330 aircraft, fitted with Business, Economy Plus and Economy cabins and the new destinations represent a major leap in flynas’ growth and expansion.
Flynas was recognized by the Riyadh governor last week for its gold sponsorship of the exhibition during an awards ceremony on the second day of the event.
