Indo-Pak peace is a must

This is with reference to the article “Overcoming South Asia’s peace spoilers” (April 5) by T.V. Paul. It was a very balanced article and I fully endorse the views expressed by the writer. Leaders of India and Pakistan must realize that the two countries share same issues like poverty, illiteracy, health care and corruption. Millions on both sides of the border are struggling to make ends meet. It is an open secret that India and Pakistan have been blessed with all sorts of natural resources and talented manpower.
If these two countries set aside their differences or try to resolve issues amicably, they can achieve great heights in no time. Unfortunately, hawkish elements on both sides don’t want peace between the two nations. Obviously if they achieve peace, those elements will lose the basis for their political existence. It is up to the youth of India and Pakistan to say no to animosity and war. They must join hands to fight poverty and hunger. — Nadir Shah, Dammam
