DUBAI: A “terrorist organisation” has been dismantled and its members arrested over alleged plans to carry out coordinated attacks aimed at undermining national security, authorities in Abu Dhabi said on Monday.
The State Security Service said investigations found the group had links to Iran’s “Wilayat al-Faqih” doctrine and had adopted extremist ideologies that posed a threat to national security.
According to officials, members recruited individuals through secret meetings as part of a coordinated effort with external actors, seeking to infiltrate sensitive positions. They also held meetings inside and outside the country with suspected militant elements, aiming to spread misleading ideas among Emirati youth and recruit them in support of foreign agendas.
Authorities said the group also raised funds through unofficial means and transferred them to suspicious entities abroad. Those arrested face charges including forming and running “a clandestine organisation, pledging allegiance to foreign entities, and undermining national unity and social stability.”
The State Security Service said it would continue to act firmly against threats to public security and urged the public to report suspicious activity through official channels.
