International Indian School-Dammam (IISD) felicitated meritorious students of Class X and Class XII CBSE exams at a colorful awards ceremony on Thursday.
Well-known businessman and Asharqia Chamber Chairman Abdul Rahman Al-Otaishan was the chief guest.
Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Baijan, member of the Business Council at the chamber, Awad Al-Maliki, deputy director of foreign and private education at the Ministry of Education, Hussain Al-Makbool, senior supervisor of foreign education at the ministry, Managing Committee Chairman Abdullah Manjeri, parents, staff members, students and community leaders attended the event.
IISD is one of the largest schools in the world with over 17,500 students and 1,000 strong faculty.
“Our school continues to maintain excellent academic as well as co-curricular standards,” said Manjeri. “This academic year the school achieved an outstanding result in the CBSE Board Exams obtaining 100 percent results after 577 students appeared for Class XII exams,” he said. “The school’s Ranju Raju topped all the Indian schools in the Kingdom by obtaining 97.4 percent marks, an all-time high percentage,” he said.
Divya Akhilan scored 96.6 percent and achieved the second position and Mohammed Akram Khan got third position with 96.4 percent marks. Shajitha Begum was the topper in commerce with 93.2 percent and Swetha Venkatachalam in humanities with 92.6 percent.
Two students scored full marks in chemistry and one scored 100 percent in informatics practice. Out of 577 students who took the exams, 51 scored more than 90 percent, which is the highest in the Kingdom.
“All the 964 students who took Class X exams this year have passed,” said Principal E.K. Mohammed Shaffe, adding that 58 students obtained CGPA 10 in all subjects.
About 700 students received gold medals, mementos and honor rolls for their meritorious achievements. Managing Committee members K.M. Thirunavukkarassu, Raju Kurien, M.A. Hasnain, and Higher Board member John Thomas presented the honors to the winners.
The latest issue of the school annual magazine, FOCUS 2014, was also released at the event.
