Obama’s inaction

Obama’s inaction

This is with reference to the article “Too much analysis brings paralysis” (June 24) by Linda Heard. It is true that US actions in the early 2000s created a mess in the world and its inaction today is set to create further chaos.
I have been reading various articles on the US invasion of Iraq and surprisingly every single writer is blaming former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair for his ugly role in the invasion. Aren’t we forgetting the top guy? What about George W. Bush?
President Obama has inherited an ugly legacy. We should be careful in criticizing him. Unfortunately, when it comes to policy matters, we cannot spare an individual. Obama tried his level best to contain the turmoil by ordering the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq and Afghanistan but the problem is that his country and his predecessors had been the architects of this gloomy scenario.
So, no matter what, the world expects the US to clean the mess, the wrong or should I say hawkish policies of previous US administration has created.
I agree with the writer that Obama takes too much time in analyzing a situation. Be it Syria, Crimea or now Iraq, this inaction will only create further problems.
It is his moral responsibility to take action against Al-Maliki, at least, because the current turmoil is the result of the US invasion of Iraq. — Shahzad, Dammam
