April 27: Dawn report by Malik Asad states that in another major blow to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz months before the general elections, the Islamabad High Court on Thursday disqualified Foreign Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif for not disclosing his salary drawn from a UAE company. Hours after the IHC verdict, the Election Commission of Pakistan formally de-notified Mr Asif as a member of the National Assembly. “Respondent [Khawaja Asif] was not qualified to contest the general election of 2013 from NA-110 as he did not fulfil the conditions described under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution, read with Section 99(1)(f) of the Act of 1976,” declared a three-judge special bench of the IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani deciding a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar.
