For most a simple “thank you” would suffice, but for one Emirati man words were not enough to express his gratitude for the close ties between Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
So instead Khalid Al-Suwaidi put on his running shoes and embarked on a journey that would see him cross from Abu Dhabi to Makkah.
The 34-year-old began the 2,000 kilometers run at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi at the beginning of February.
Suwaidi finally arrived in Makkah on Friday, where he said his run was a “message of love” for the leadership of the two Gulf states.
