DUBAI, 11 June 2006 — The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) has announced the winners for the technical categories of the Idea IIFA Awards 2006. Hindi films Black and Parineeta have bagged awards in most categories.
The Idea IIFA Awards are the high point of the 7th Annual IIFA Weekend and Awards in Dubai from June 14-17.
Black won awards for cinematography, editing, song recording and background score and Parineeta was recognized for makeup and costume, sound recording, art direction and screenplay. Other films applauded in the technical category included Dus, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Apaharan and Bunty Aur Babli.
The technical awards results were strictly monitored, collated and tabulated by the internationally reputed audit firm PriceWaterhouse Coopers.
The winners include: Cinematography: Ravi Chandran for the movie Black; Screenplay: Vidhu Vinodh Chopra and Pradeep Sarkar for Parineeta; Dialogue: Prakash Jha for Apharan; Editing: Bela Segal for Black; Art direction: Keshto Mondol, Elridge Rodrigues, Tanushree Sarkar and Pradeep Sarkar for Parinee;. Choreogrpah: Vaibhavi Merchant for Bunty Aur Babli, Kajra re; Action: Allan Amin for Dus; Sound recording: Bishwadeep Chatterjee for Parineeta; Sound re-recording: Anup Dev for Black; Song recording: P. Balaraman for Aashiq Banaya Aapne; Special effects: Prime focus for Dus; Background Score: Monty Sharma for Black; Costume designing: Subarna Ray Chaudhari for Prineeta; Make up: Vidhyadhar Bhatte for Prineeta.
The awards will be given away at the grand Idea IIFA Awards presentation ceremony on June 16th and the presentation will be beamed to a global audience by the event broadcast partners STAR TV.
