JEDDAH: Pakistan’s feature film “Khuda Kay Liye” (For the sake of God), screened at the Asian Film Festival here on Wednesday night, was internationally acclaimed as one of the best movies when released in 2007.

The movie drew massive applause from the audience.

Directed by Shoaib Mansoor, the 167-minute bilingual movie (Urdu and English) was released in India in February 2008, thus becoming the first Pakistani movie to be shown in Indian theaters.

“This is the best Pakistani film ever made,” said Pakistan’s Consul General Zaigham Uddin Azam in his introductory remarks.

The movie is about the difficult situation in which Pakistanis in particular and Muslims in general are caught up since the Sept. 11 attacks in the US.
