The expansion project of the cemetery situated in Ammariah district of the city includes enhancing the capacity of the graveyard, larger parking area and expansion of the area set apart for mourning.
In the meeting, attended by Jeddah Mayor Adel Fakieh, Municipal Council Chairman Hussein Baaqeel and Chairman of the Aldarain Fund Muhammad Abdu Yamani, the Aldarain Fund agreed to pay SR18 million to the owners of the properties that would have to be acquired for the expansion work of the cemetry to move forward.
They also reviewed the engineering designs of the cemetery. Committees were also formed to guarantee the speedy completion of the project.
In another development, Baaqeel received complaints from the residents of the districts east of the Haramain Expressway about the pollution caused to them by a medical-waste recycling factory operating in their area.
“The Municipal Council is not at all pleased with a polluting factory operating in the midst of a residential district. I will discuss the matter with the mayor and Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental Protection to find a suitable location for the factory,” Baaqeel said.
