The king wished good health and happiness to the president and progress and prosperity to the people.
Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, also congratulated President Saleh on the occasion.
Yemen’s Consul General Muhammad Al-Qatish said Yemen followed a balanced policy of mutual respect and shared interests in its relations with other countries.
Al-Qatish also commended the excellent relations between Yemen and Saudi Arabia including the Kingdom’s care and attention to the welfare of Yemeni expatriates in the Kingdom.
Al-Qatish was speaking in a function to commemorate Yemen's reunification at Hilton Hotel in Jeddah on Friday.
“Yemen has prepared an environment to solve border issues with neighboring countries in a cordial and peaceful manner. It also wants to create stronger political, economic and cultural relations,” Al-Qatish said.
The consul general added that his country followed a balanced policy based on mutual respect and shared interests apart from sticking to international norms such as  non-interference in internal matters of other countries and respect for the sovereignty of other countries. The diplomat said the country has strengthened cooperation with Arab countries in addition to achieving strong relations with other countries over the past decades.
The diplomat stressed the country’s growing ties with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
“A new period of cooperation and integration began particularly after the King Fahd Summit in Abu Dhabi followed by increased cooperation between the GCC secretariat and the Yemeni government,” he said.
He also referred to international efforts to help the country, especially the conference of countries granting aid to Yemen in London in 2006, the investment opportunity conference in April 2007 and the latest London conference.
Another upcoming Friends of Yemen meeting will discuss ways to assist human resources development and economic growth in Yemen. The meeting will also focus on Yemen’s security, territorial integrity and stability, he said.
