The boys burst into the victim’s office after he had told their families they had truanted that day.
They shouted abuse at him before the situation escalated into a violent confrontation.
The principal was injured in his eye and other teachers had to intervene to protect him.
The students then went to the school parking lot and vandalized the principal’s car.
Official spokesman for Jeddah’s Education Department Rajaallah Al-Sulami said that police arrested the three students and summoned the principal to the police station for questioning.
He said the trio would be punished after a police investigation.
The Education Department is to also send a special team to the troubled school to lecture students about the dangers of bad behavior.
