New York scored twice in the ninth off closer Leo Nunez (3-1), tying it at 6 on a single by pinch-hitter Josh Thole — his second hit this season. It was Nunez’s fourth blown save in 20 chances
Pedro Feliciano (2-3) retired his first two batters in the bottom of the ninth, but Jorge Cantu doubled to right-center and Uggla hit a grounder up the middle.
Cantu slid home safely, beating a strong throw by center fielder Jesus Feliciano, and Uggla was mobbed by excited teammates in the infield at Hiram Bithorn Stadium.
At Cincinnati, Raul Ibanez ended Arthur Rhodes’ record-tying streak of scoreless innings with a run-scoring double in the 10th, rallying the Philadelphia Phillies past the Cincinnati Reds.
Joey Votto’s three-run homer with two outs off Brad Lidge (1-0) tied it in the ninth.
Rhodes (2-2) hadn’t allowed a run in his last 33 appearances, tying the major league season record. The left-hander gave up a leadoff double by Ryan Howard and walked Jayson Werth.
Ibanez then doubled — the ball bounced off Drew Stubbs’ glove at the wall in center — for the first run allowed by Rhodes since April 10, starting the winning rally.
The comeback helped Philadelphia get beyond the loss of two starting infielders. Brewers 7 Astros 5: At Milwaukee, Prince Fielder homered twice, and Yovani Gallardo homered and was good enough in six innings of work to earn the victory as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Houston Astros.
It was the seventh victory in nine games for Milwaukee, which hit four homers off Astros starter Brett Myers (5-6).
Gallardo (8-3), coming off a five-hit shutout win over Minnesota, labored in six innings, giving up four runs, seven hits and two walks.
At St. Louis, Albert Pujols homered twice and doubled with a season-high five RBIs and Adam Wainwright handcuffed the Arizona Diamondbacks into the seventh inning in the St. Louis Cardinals’ victory.
Dontrelle Willis (1-1) had another wild outing for the Diamondbacks, walking six, hitting a batter and getting lucky on a really wild pitch thrown behind a batter that caromed back to catcher Miguel Montero for a tag play at the plate in the fourth. The Cardinals had 14 baserunners in 23 at-bats against the 28-year-old lefty, who retired none of four batters to start the fifth and has walked 13 in 7 1-3 innings his last two starts.
Dodgers 4 Giants 2: At San Francisco, James Loney hit a go-ahead, two-run single in the fifth inning to give Los Angeles a boost after slugger Manny Ramirez injured his right hamstring, and the Dodgers beat San Francisco.
Loney also had an RBI single in the first, the play on which Ramirez was hurt. Rafael Furcal tripled, singled twice and scored a run as the Dodgers gave John Ely (4-5) plenty of support.
Matt Cain (6-7) lost his third straight start and fell to 0-8 in 14 career starts against the Dodgers, who have won four of five against San Francisco this season.
Ramirez hurt his hamstring running the bases and left the game. The team didn’t immediately have further details and said he was day to day.
Ely went seven innings and ended a six-start winless stretch in which he was 0-4. Ronald Belisario got one out for his first career save.
At San Diego, Clint Barmes hit a three-run homer and finished with four RBIs, and Carlos Gonzalez added a solo shot to lead Colorado over San Diego.
The Rockies have hit six homers in two nights at spacious Petco Park, including one each night by Gonzalez.
Barmes added an RBI single in the ninth and the Rockies won for the sixth time in eight games.
Jason Hammel (6-3) won his fifth straight decision and Huston Street pitched a perfect ninth for his first save this season. He was activated form the disabled list a week earlier after missing the first 69 games with inflammation in his right shoulder.
At Atlanta, Craig Stammen, called up from the minors earlier in the day, pitched 7 1-3 strong innings to lead the Washington Nationals past the Atlanta Braves.
Josh Willingham hit a two-run homer, Ryan Zimmerman had a two-run double and Alberto Gonzalez had four hits as the Nationals snapped a five-game losing streak.
Stammen (2-2) was sent to the minors on June 6 to clear room for rookie Stephen Strasburg, who lost to the Braves 5-0 on Monday night. He was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse for the start, and allowed five hits, struck out four and walked two.
Stammen ended streaks of nine straight starts without a win this year and 10 straight road starts without a win. The right-hander’s last road win came on July 11, 2009, at Houston.
At Chicago, Alfonso Soriano hit two solo home runs and Ted Lilly pitched seven strong innings to lead the Chicago Cubs over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Cubs won for the fourth time in 11 games and improved to 3-8 this season against the last-place Pirates.
With unseasonably cool weather and the wind blowing in, Lilly (3-6) took advantage by getting a number of fly outs. He allowed one run and six hits, struck out five and walked one.
After ending its 17-game road losing streak Monday night, the Pirates’ offense came on a solo homer by Ryan Doumit in the fifth inning. Jeff Karstens (2-3) allowed three runs, two earned, and seven hits in six innings for Pittsburgh.
