“The victim told police that the suspect had approached his employee at the farm and showed interest in purchasing 25 sheep. The suspect paid for the sheep with cash and then took the sheep,” said Col. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah police.
The counterfeit money was then brought to the attention of the police when the farm owner arrived later that day to pick up the cash and noticed it was fake. “Security officers noted the man's description, the license number of his pickup truck and the time when the purchase happened.
A search was launched and the man was eventually found near a livestock market in south Jeddah trying to sell the sheep he had purchased,” said Al-Juaid.
He added that the man initially denied the accusations and claimed sole ownership of the animals. However, when confronted by the evidence, he admitted to using fake notes. All of the sheep were returned to their owner.
The man is currently at Al-Nuzla prison while investigations continue.
