The SRMG has launched an Android application for Asharq Al-Awsat, an international Arabic daily, in line with its position as an important source of information at Arab and international levels.
This will be an important addition to the other digital platforms used by newspapers and magazines published by the Saudi Research & Publishing Company (SRPC), including the iPhone, iPad and other mobile phones.
In a statement on the occasion, Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil, CEO of SRMG, said: “Asharq Al-Awsat is one of the most influential newspapers and has a large base of readers. Today we strengthen its position further by launching it on Android.” “It will be followed by the system’s launch on applications of SRPC’s other newspapers and magazines. This comes in line with the group’s plan to shift into digital publishing in order to reach its present base of readers as well as to expand that base.”
Knowledge View developed the new application using a new technology. Android will enable content to be shown in English, French and Arabic with high quality, be it text, pictures or video. It is also compatible with all devices. “The new application also allows the sharing of news, video clips and pictures through social media and e-mails,” Al-Dakhil said.
The SRPC selected Knowledge View from a group of international companies that had showed an interest to develop the company’s applications on various electronic platforms. The partnership between the SRMG and Knowledge View is considered a good example to follow in developing digital platforms, he added.
Dr. Ali Al-Assam, CEO of Knowledge View, said his company is proud of establishing a partnership with the SRPC. “We are proud of this cooperation with the SRPC, as it is one of the largest publishing houses in the Arab world,” he added.
Al-Assam said the development of applications for the SRPC newspapers and magazines for all types of mobile phones was carried out in a record time. “We are looking forward to achieve more successes in our partnership with the SRPC to raise the standard of using technology in the world and provide world-class digital services to readers in a better way,” he added.
