Addressing the launching ceremony at Masmak Museum in Riyadh, he called upon Saudis to give due importance to the country's national heritage, saying it adds value to the national unity.
"We have to take out architectural heritage sites from books and pamphlets to make them a living history and citizens should be closer to the history of their country," the SCTA chief said.
He expressed his hope that the campaign would enhance public awareness on the significance of national heritage. "Cultural dimension is one of the important features of this country," he added.
Prince Sultan said the land of Saudi Arabia has witnessed several cultures and civilizations in the past. "Islam came to strengthen those civilizations as well as to make use of them. Our contacts with other cultures have only strengthened our faith in our religion and values," he added.
In a previous statement, Prince Sultan emphasized the importance of urban heritage. "We want to invest in urban heritage sites to restore the glories of our great history, bringing urban heritage to light and get it out of history books," he said.
The SCTA chief urged Saudi families and youths to experience the country's history by visiting heritage sites. "Every citizen or family has made a contribution in building this great country since its inception," he said. He stressed the need to invest in heritage sites "because the diverse heritage across our country has great importance in the development of our national economy as well as the economics of different provinces, towns and villages."
Prince Sultan described urban heritage sites as "inexhaustible oil wells," and called upon businessmen to invest in these sites to strengthen the economy and create more jobs for Saudis.
