Police officer Nazir Ahmed Khurd says surgeon Baqir Shah was shot Thursday in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province.
Khurd said Shah had received threats ever since he conducted an autopsy on the five foreigners, including three women, who were shot to death at a security checkpoint near Quetta on May 17.
Security forces said the five were would-be suicide bombers who died when they detonated a grenade.
But Shah’s report showed the foreigners, who were apparently unarmed, died from gunshot wounds. One of the women was pregnant.
