Defense minister commends officers in Jund Al-Islam-1 military exercise

He also commended top officers for organizing the “Jund Al-Islam-1” military exercise in a proper manner and with a sense of responsibility.
“I am proud of the progress achieved by the armed forces,” he wrote in the visitors’ register of Prince Sultan Military Base in Tabuk after attending a luncheon hosted by the command of the northwestern region.
Tabuk Gov. Prince Fahd bin Sultan, Chief of Staff Gen. Hussein Al-Qubail, several princes and officials and top commanders attended the luncheon.
Earlier in the day, the minister attended the concluding ceremony of Jund Al-Islam-1 after visiting the command center for training. Units from different military sectors in the region took part in the exercise.
Maj. Gen. Eid Al-Shalawi, commander of the training program, briefed the minister on its features and importance. The exercise featured the use of various military hardware including tanks, missile launchers, aircraft carriers and different types of helicopters.
“The exercise proved the forces’ professionalism, their command and control and high degree of preparedness,” an official statement said.
