It is heartening to note that Palestinians have finally set aside their differences and joined hands to work together for their legitimate rights. All Palestinian factions should leave no stone unturned to help this unity government succeed. I urge all Muslim countries particularly the Gulf Arab states to extend all-out assistance to the unity government.
It goes without saying that Israeli thinkers will be working overtime to come up with plans to render this government ineffective. It is also possible that Israeli agents might try to drive a wedge between the Palestinians. We can say that Palestine is going through a crucial phase. All Palestinian leaders and people should try their level best to foil any Israeli attempt to harm their unity. It is not the end of the road. As a matter of fact, this is just a new chapter in the struggle against Zionism.
The Palestinians should also wage a media war against the Zionist state and expose the true face of the so-called thriving democracy of the Middle East. The United States has also backed this unity government, which is a very positive development. It also indicates a slight shift in the US policy toward Israel. However, the Palestinians should not heavily rely on the US support, as the Zionist lobby will do everything possible to influence US decision. The unity government should chalk out a comprehensive strategy to deal with future challenges. A spike in Israel-Palestine tensions cannot be ruled out. The Palestinians should play their cards wisely.
