MUMBAI: Renowned Indian comedian-actor Kapil Sharma complained on Friday to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter about alleged corruption in Mumbai’s civic body.
“I am paying Rs.15 crore income tax from last five years and still I have to pay five lacs bribe to the municipality for making my office,” Kapil tweeted. “These are you good days?” he added.
Later, the municipal corporation asked Sharma to reveal the name of the official who demanded a bribe and vowed strict action against the culprits.
“We request Mr. Sharma to share the name of the official and enable the municipality to take strict action,” a top municipality official said.
The post by Sharma, who has more than six million followers on Twitter, was re-tweeted by around 8,000 people later that day.
Sharma hosts the popular television comedy talk show “The Kapil Sharma Show.” He is also planning to start a film division soon, according to reports.
He was the winner of “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” in 2007 and later hosted the popular “Comedy Nights with Kapil.”
