B-town beauties all set for Cannes 2015

It’s time for the Cannes Film Festival. And what does it promise? It’s going to be a desi delight with three Indian actresses on the most glamorous red carpet.
Katrina Kaif, who is temporarily on Twitter for her Cannes debut, is most excited. All set for her maiden appearance at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival, the ‘Bang Bang’ star will walk the red carpet on the opening day and the next day too — May 13 and 14.
Will Ranbir Kapoor squeeze time to accompany his muse? The rumor mills are abuzz with the fact that our ‘Rockstar’ Kapoor might travel to Paris with Katrina, and stay there till she comes back from French Rivera. But RK has quashed the report, saying that he will be promoting his magnum opus ‘Bombay Velvet’ which is scheduled to release next week.
Kat’s fellow L’Oréal Paris brand ambassador Sonam Kapoor will reportedly grace the red carpet on May 16 and 18.
This brings up the question — can B-town actresses be friends? Never. If that’s what you thought, think again. This trend is changing. Recently, the two divas — Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were seen bonding at the L’Oreal event. During the press conference they were even completing each other’s sentences. A very rare gesture, indeed! The perfect picture of the event was — Sonam, in all humility laughing as Katrina kissed her.
Two actresses bonding is indeed great. But, we wonder when did Katrina and Sonam get so close? Was it because of L’Oreal or was it just a promotional stunt?
It’s difficult to digest this attitude shift. Isn’t the ‘Masakali’ girl known to be blunt and forthright? How can we forget her opinion on the hottest topic of tinsel town. Sonam was asked what is most likely to happen in 2015? Sonam was given the choice of: (1) Salman Khan getting married (2) The three Khans doing a movie together and (3) Ranbir — Katrina getting married. Sonam thought for a moment and said, “Uhhh I don’t think either of the three are possible” to which she and Jacqueline (who was standing next to her), burst out laughing!
But, what’s cooking now, is the Kat-Sonam friendship just another gimmick?
When a journo asked Katrina about marriage, Sonam stepped in and answered for her as if she was helping Kat to dodge the question. Katrina also highlighted the fact that the ‘Khoobsurat’ girl is a fashion icon, when she said, “Whenever I meet Sonam, even if it’s at a normal restaurant, I feel that she has just come from an event or a red carpet. She has a great fashion sense.”
Katrina also joked, “If I don’t find an appropriate dress for Cannes, I’ll just borrow a dress from Sonam as she will be in the next room.”
If you remember, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, has been a L’Oréal Paris ambassador for more than a decade. She will complete 14 years at Cannes with L’Oréal Paris and will walk the red carpet on May 17 and 20. Excited she is, but what’s really got Ash on cloud nine, is her comeback film, which has made it to the list of films that will be showcased this year!
‘Jazbaa’ is an upcoming Indian action-drama film directed by Sanjay Gupta. According to reports, a montage of the film will be created to showcase at the fest and Sanjay has already started putting it together. Incidentally, the film also stars Irrfan Khan, Shabana Azmi and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles, and is slated to release on Oct. 9, 2015.
No wonder, Ash is on a ‘high’!
