I read with interest the article “Repercussions of Paris attacks” (Nov. 29) by Rasheed Abou-Alsamh. I agree with the views of the writer. The reaction to the Paris attacks has been unreasonable. It seems that the world is falling into the trap of Daesh and its likes. By targeting all Muslims in the West or by mistreating them in any way, the western governments will only radicalize the Muslim youth, which is the goal of Daesh. It is really surprising to note that no matter how much clarifications Muslims offer to their critics and how they try to distance themselves from radical groups, the western media and politicians refuse to change their unreasonable stance toward Islam and Muslims. Leaders of the Muslim world have repeatedly claimed that Daesh is not the representative of the Muslim world but to no avail.

Following the recent shooting incident in the US, the religious identity of the shooter did not come into question. That is, however, not the case when a fanatic carries out a terrorist attack chanting Islamic slogans. This current approach of the international community will only benefit Daesh and its likes.
