The tweet by Michael Moore published on Nov. 16 was very interesting. Moore is correct; he has been saying this all along. Today, the entire world is paying the price of the mistakes of two individuals. The US invasion of Iraq is solely responsible for the current mess in the region. It stoked anti-American sentiments in the world and increased Islamophobia in the West. The two self-proclaimed saviors of mankind should be taken to task for pushing the world into this abyss. Offering apology for acting on wrong intelligence reports is not enough.

We cannot blame President Obama for these problems. He is a nice person who inherited these problems from his predecessor. However, being the commander-in-chief of the army that had earlier invaded Iraq, he has no other choice but to assume a greater responsibility to tackle the problem that his predecessor had created.

I urge President Obama to take a swift action against Assad’s regime. Assad is creating problems in Syria to prolong his rule in the war-ravaged country. By doing so, the POTUS will always be remembered as a man who genuinely wanted peace.

Sometimes, it is important to take such steps to ensure long-lasting peace. Had Obama been in the White House prior to George Bush Jr., the situation would have been very different.

Obama should not be reluctant in taking action against Assad, as it will send a wrong message to Washington’s Arab allies. People in the Arab world are of the view that Obama is not taking any action against Assad just to appease Iran.
