I read with interest the article “Netanyahu playing tricks” (Sept. 4) by Linda Heard. Finally somebody wrote about Israel and reminded us about the plight of the Palestinians. Since the beginning of the so-called Arab Spring and the eventual rise of the terrorist organization, Daesh, the Palestine issue had taken a backseat.

So-called experts on the Middle East don’t realize that the Arab-Israel issue is the root cause of all the problems in the region. If it were not for tacit western support to Israel, the issue would have long been resolved.

Netanyahu can never be trusted. Unfortunately, the Palestinians have also failed to put up a united front against the Zionist occupation of the holy land. Deep divisions rendering the cause weak and ineffective mar the Palestinian political landscape.

Without unity the Palestinians can never achieve their goal. There is a great need to resolve the ongoing leadership crisis. All Palestinian leaders need to revisit their policies and political strategies. Palestine needs a strong and bold leadership.
