This is with reference to the report “Hopes for Syria peace dim after Assad, Obama remarks” (Nov. 20). I am really shocked to read this report. Why don’t these people understand that Assad is the biggest problem Syria and Syrians are currently facing.

It would be foolish to think that Assad’s presence could help maintain peace in the war-ravaged country. Even a layman can understand the political tactics of Assad. Had this dictator been removed earlier, the situation of the country would have been different.

After killing thousands of Syrians, he has lost his legitimacy and the right to remain the head of the state. He has committed crimes against humanity. How could anybody expect anything good from him and his backers?

It is due to this silly attitude of the world powers that the entire world has become unsafe for common people who just want to continue with their daily routines and have no stakes in regional or global politics.
