The article “It’s symbolism vs. substance” (Nov. 30) by Mitch McConnell appears to be part of the ongoing campaign against US President Barack Obama. The article portrays President Obama as a villain who wants to play around with the lives of the middle-class population of his own country.

Since his election as the president of the United States, the media has always unfairly targeted Obama. The article in question is lopsided and lacks objectivity. It shows only one side of the story. It is easy to play with statistics to hoodwink the masses. Obama’s decision regarding emission cuts is not only related to the US, it is about the future of this planet that we share. The writer should think beyond domestic politics. Everybody is entitled to his/her opinion but when it comes to writers and analysts, they should maintain an objective approach. They are supposed to be the opinion leaders. The article clearly showed the writer’s bias against the POTUS.

President Obama is usually criticized for his “inaction” in other parts of the world. He should not be blamed for the current mess. Those, within the US, who are hell bent on propagating lies about him, should try to assess the tenures of Obama’s Republican predecessor.
