I feel embarrassed being a Pakistani to agree to the views expressed by Irfan. I totally agree that Pakistan has failed as an Islamic state. There are several religious, political and economically problems faced for which there are not immediate solutions considering the power struggle and in fighting that takes place in Pakistan.
I am little upset with the harsh words of the writer on artists and sports activities since both the countries benefit from the activities. However, Pakistan should spend their time, money and efforts to build a good country rather than spending this in fighting with India and terrorist activities.
I firmly believe we need to do a lot and have a huge responsibility being an Islamic state to improve our action and deeds so we can set ourselves as an example of good Muslims to the world. — Saira Khan, By e-mail
