This is with reference to the shocking picture showing the bloodied face of a Syrian boy injured in the airstrikes carried out by the Syrian regime in Douma, Damascus. The picture made me realize that how have we forgotten the poor people of Syria at the mercy of Bashar Assad. The worst victims of the international inaction over Syria are the Syrians who are now caught in the crossfire. At one end, it is the brutal dictator who wants to cling to power at any cost and on the other end, the merciless militants of the so-called Islamic State (IS) are wreaking havoc on the Syrians.

The latter is the result of world’s inaction. Had the international community promptly acted against Assad, the IS would not have come to the fore.
