This is with reference to the letter “America’s greatness” by Ahmed (Nov. 11). He appears to be deeply in love with the United States. I also am very fond of the US founding fathers but we cannot deny that the US is no longer a great country. The writer must be thinking of applying for a visa to the US that is why he tried to exaggerate America’s greatness. The US is no longer following the path set by its founding fathers. Once it was a land of opportunity and the true torchbearer of human rights in the world but now it is an oppressor and violator of basic human rights.

It has emerged as a country, which loves to interfere in other nations’ internal affairs and to wage wars against weak nations. Major corporations control it these days. As a matter of fact, ordinary Americans are also being affected by the wrong policies of their leaders. Americans should stop believing in what their media tells them. They should try to look into things more deeply and should make efforts to regain the greatness, which was a hallmark of their country.
