This is with reference to the article “Modi making shrewd moves” (Nov. 15) by Nilofar Suhrawardy. I am not a supporter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but I feel the writer just loves to criticize Narendra Modi for everything he does. The article described in detail the moves made by Modi to strengthen his party’s position. I think that is realpolitik. Everybody has the right to do so. I think writers should try to focus on real issues. I found the article a futile attempt to stir a controversy. Forging new alliances or switching loyalties is not a new phenomenon in Indian politics but with Modi at the helm, everybody is trying to add new dimension to these old tactics. The writer should try to focus on the issues facing the Indians and the policies of the Modi government. This would be a better approach to keep the readers informed. Constructive criticism plays an important role in educating masses but silly accusations only create confusion.
