This is with reference to the report “Drifters face SR1,000 fine, car confiscation” (Dec. 30). The traffic authorities should take strict action against the drifters who put their own and other people’s lives at risk. The Kingdom needs to deal with this problem on an urgent basis. YouTube is flooded with video showing youngsters with modified cars converging on some special spots around the city. The authorities should begin by removing them from such spots.

It is not just drifting that creates problems. Many youngsters also don’t hesitate in performing different stunts on main thoroughfares using their modified hydraulics. Many people say that there are no activities for the youth in the Kingdom due to which they are forced to do such things. That’s not any excuse. Parents of such erring young drivers should also be punished for providing their sons with such cars and not taking care of their kids.
