I read with interest the article “Putin is on a roll now” (Dec. 31) by Richard Weitz. It appears really difficult not to get affected by the western propaganda unleashed against Russia and President Vladimir Putin. Western media is too powerful and has the capability to paint any person, country or ideology in whatever way it want.

We all have seen the dubious role the US has played in the Muslim world. All Muslim countries should try to forge an alliance with Russia. If that means abandoning the US, so be it. Every country has the right to take steps to protect its strategic interests.

We have seen the impact of a unilateral world. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the United States acted with complete impunity in the world. As soon as Russia under Putin started to challenge its (US) position, the West started a war against Russia. I urge all the countries in the East, particularly the Muslim countries, to form an alliance with Russia and offer resistance to the brutal domination of the West.
