I agree with the views expressed by Saad Al-Dosari in his article “Promoting critical thinking” (Nov. 23). This phenomenon is not unique to Saudi Arabia. The entire Muslim world is facing this crisis. The systems of education in the Muslim world are outdated and are not in sync with the needs of the modern world. We should realize that the current system of education was designed decades ago to serve the interests of colonial powers. Without doing away with the outdated system, the Muslim world cannot truly make any progress.
