I read with interest the article “New political realities” (Nov. 10) by Ramzy Baroud. The article made perfect sense and truly depicts the current global scenario. In this emerging global situation, I feel very uneasy to find the Muslim world groping in the dark with no sense of direction. Heavy reliance on foreign powers has already done enough damage to almost every Muslim country.

The Muslim world needs to act as one body to meet the current and future challenges. We need a different strategy to ensure a prosperous future. Instead of joining a particular camp, we should try to negotiate our way through the global political maze very tactfully by giving priority to our interests.

Acting as a client state of any foreign power will be counterproductive. One might argue that it is the era of strategic alliances. It is true but there has to be some limits. The Muslim world has long been acting to protect American interests in the region, which is the main reason behind the current mess.

I am not insisting on adopting anti-US or pro-Russia/ China policies. We should have good relations with everyone with the focus on the interests of Muslims.
