I read with interest the article “Europe’s refugee problem” (May 30) by Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein. This article drew my attention to another issue — the Arab-Israel conflict.

Jews had suffered badly at the hands of the Nazis and even the European countries of those days had refused to accept Jews. They found refuge in various Muslim countries. I am not making up any story. These are all historical facts. However, the way they subsequently treated the Arabs is beyond comprehension. Even today, the attitude of Israeli government is very bad toward Palestinians. It seems they have forgotten the pains of getting uprooted from their lands. We expect empathy from Jews. They are in a much better position to understand the woes of displaced people around the world.
