This is with reference to the report “Firing of Saudis using ‘legal loophole’ under focus” (Nov. 10). I am also of the view that rights of employees should be protected and employers should not be allowed to abuse their authority and fire employees using legal excuses. In this case, however, it seems that the issue has been created because those who have been fired are Saudis. Before accusing employers for exploiting the labor law to their advantage, it should be probed as to what was the reason behind the decision. How was the performance of those employees?

If anybody irrespective of his nationality does not work or perform well, a company has the right to take certain actions. Nobody can deny the fact that many Saudi employees themselves are exploiting the current situation.

Being a Saudi, they are supposed to work with full dedication and contribute to the progress of their country. Unfortunately, that is not the case in general. This is not to say that all Saudis are like that. Most banks in the Kingdom have mostly Saudi employees and they are doing a great job.
