This is with reference to the article “Turkey left to face terror” (Sept. 12) by Harun Yahya. The writer has exposed the double standard of NATO. Whatever happening in Turkey is indeed sad. The Turkish people and the government should view the NATO (or other allies’) indifference as a blessing in disguise. It is better that foreign forces, unaware of the sensitivities of the issue, stay away from Turkey. Turkish people should try to resolve their internal matter on their own.

The PKK does not represent the Kurdish population of Turkey. Kurds are devout Muslims and have always played an important role in the history of Islam. Salahuddin Ayyubi, a Kurd, does not need any introduction. Every Muslim knows him and respects this great son of Islam.

The PKK is the follower of a godless ideology that has already been defeated and does not fit in the new scheme of things around the world. The inherent flaws of communism had long been exposed. It is a failed ideology.

I urge all Muslim countries to form a joint force to counter all the threats being faced by the Muslim world including that from the PKK, which is on the move to create greater Kurdistan with the help of certain foreign forces. It is our war and we should fight it in our own way. I also endorse the writer’s suggestion regarding waging an ideological struggle against these elements.
