The world seems to be too preoccupied with the self-ascribed Islamic State (IS) that the problems facing Libya have almost taken a backseat. The country is in shambles and being run by different militias. If reports were to be believed then it would not be exaggeration to claim that another Afghanistan is in the making. The powers who had helped topple the dictatorship of Muammar Gaddafi have left the country to rot.

The United Nations should look into the matters of Libya seriously and take measures to protect the integrity of the country, which is on the brink.

UN peacekeeping forces should be dispatched to Libya. I suggest that those forces should be selected from Muslim countries. Muslim soldiers are suitable in such situation because of their knowledge of religious sensibilities.
