This is with reference to the report “Haia replaces Taif official after poetry event ‘disrupted’” (Nov. 24). It is sad that some Haia officials act in irresponsible manner and bring a bad name to the commission. Such actions only help those elements who oppose the very existence of Haia.

I believe that Haia needs to revisit its policies and try to overhaul its procedures. Haia officials need an image makeover. The commission is supposed to prevent the spread of evil in society, which is a noble cause and in line with the injunctions of Islam. Haia officials should treat people with utmost respect and civility, as they are basically representing Islam. They should be loved not dreaded.
